Easy cake recipe needed

At work it is tradition on your birthday to take a cake in, and as mineis mid week i need something easy to do, like a sponge cake. But then last week someone came in with a gorgeous coffee cake, and now I'm thinking a sponge cake just won't cut it against that!!!

I'm not trying to be competitive but I just want to send in something nice, as I have only been there a couple of weeks, and they have all been so lovely to me.

One other issue is it needs to be able to travel well, as I have to get a bus and train, or two trains to work.

Thank you in advance

This Sticky gingerbread is delish, and keeps really well. You could make it at the weekend and take it in mid week.

Ultimate chocolate cake also quite straightforward.

I would make a chocolate biscuit refrigerator cake. Foolproof, and more of a treat than ordinary sponge cake. If you include cranberries and almonds or pistachios in the recipe then so much the poncier better.

Choc fudge cake. Throw everything in a bowl, mix and make. So yummy too. Recipe here

Definitely go with chocolate cake. Something like this form Delia but I would use whipped cream for filling. Easy and always a crowd pleaser.
