I always make beef casserole with stewing steak, fancy a change was edging towards some kind of stroganoff type thing with cream, mushrooms, mustard anyone know any good recipes for this kind of thing?

love beef stroganoff and my favourite recipe is Rick Steins, we have it with pasta instead of the chips he has.

Its very very nice, but we keep it for special occasions as the fillet steak costs a small fortune (cheaper than a take away though!)

Would be interested in one which uses stewing steak too.

Mary Berry has a lovely recipe in the Aga book - it's basically a beef casserole with a tsp of curry powder, some grated ginger and horseradish stirred in just before serving.

Delia has a recipe for beef with black pepper and creme fraiche which ends up like a slow-cooked stroganoff- its really nice with mash or rice. Will try to find online somewhere.
