Fish hating toddler, meat hating mamma

Hi All,

Does anyone have any good recipes for a toddler that won't (never has) take fish in any form? My dd is now 19 months old and I still cook her entirely separate recipes from our dinner, which we eat later. The trouble is she is quite the carnivore and I don't eat meat so cooking for her is a little bit of trial on occasion. DH and I do eat a lot of fish and it would be easier, not to mention cheaper, to make proper 'family' meals (even if we eat at different times).

Any really fun, non fishy fishy recipes?

I make kedgeree with smoked haddock - I am not fond of fish but we all eat that.

I have never been a fish eater - but as a child I loved tinned pilchards in tomato sauce on toast!

Cod in breadcrumbs - never met a child who doesn't like a fish finger! Fish pie is nice with a creamy sauce and mash topping. Fish cakes are good too if you make them with lots of potato and veg and not too much fish (instead of chunks of fish. You could try tuna).

Ask tour fishmonger what he suggests - sole is quite light tasting.

Hi Sam and wahwah,

Thanks! DD is an expert fish spotter. Fishfingers were a 'straight to dog' food as far as she was concerned. I've tried the fishcake idea but the pink salmon (how less fishy can fish be?) was detected and rejection ensued. Even nursery can't get her to eat tuna and she eats everything not actually nailed to the floor there :). Need a stealth fish recipe ....Will have a go at sole :)
