chocolate flavour 'buttercream'?

does anyone know if i could make a chocolate flavour 'buttercream' with cocoa powder rather than melted chocolate? DD is dairy intolerant so im wondering how to do chocolatey fairy cakes so that she can share with her big brother and i dont have to spend all afternoon in the kitchen making separate batches of cakes

thanks

yes, I think so. on the Pure spread website there is recipe for it, I think.

I have made it, but cannot remember now if we used chocolate or cocoa. I reckon cocoa though, as was a last minute decision, and can't see me faffing around melting chocolate at short notice.

was lush, btw.

Yes - my dh makes his chocolate buttercream with cocoa powder. It's yummy!

I do it with cocoa powder too. Best way is to make the powder into a paste with some water, I find, then you can put loads in, and have it really dark and chocolatey

Just make the usual buttercream and add cocoa. it seems to work fine. I usually add vanilla essence too though.

thank you, that sounds simple enough for even me to manage. i do have some dark choc that i could melt but would rather keep that for tonight with a glass of wine. i will also have a look on the pure website just to see if there are any other dairy free ideas.

I always do it with cocoa and i add a few tablespoons of boiled waster. Makes it lovely & smooth.

I've never used chocolate, always cocoa with a little water. Always lively.
