To crush or not to crush...

So, fennel seeds in a chorizo/bean type casserole recipe do I crush them slightly or not? I don't want their flavour to overpower...help!

If they're going into a casserole recipe which starts by frying off some of the elements before adding liquid... pop them into the hot oil with the onion/garlic/whatever and let them sizzle a little. That will get plenty of flavour out of them. Only overpowering if you add too many.

I would crush a bit to release the flavours. And then do what Cogito recommended.
