I've just discovered that the chicken (breast fillets) we're supposed to be having for dinner was best before/use by 18Jan. Do you think it would be ok to eat it??? it's been in the fridge since the weekend

yes

if it smells ok will be fine

expatinscotland · 19/01/2006 15:32

Sure.

expatinscotland · 19/01/2006 15:32

Just remember to cook it first

spykid · 19/01/2006 15:32

take it out and smell it.
Should be ok unless it smells or goping green

suzywong · 19/01/2006 15:33

yes

do come back if you want to freeze it or thaw it, I live for these kinds of threads

motherinferior · 19/01/2006 15:34

Oh definitely. Go on.

littlemissbossy · 19/01/2006 15:35

Thanks ladies ... was hoping you'd say that it was ok - looks ok but I will do the smell test first.
BTW if we get food poisoning I'll kill you lot!

now I would say yes, but would then be sniffing it and pulling a face whilst eating it.

Dh never asks me anything along these lines anymore.

daisy1999 · 19/01/2006 15:58

I'm a worrywart and would chuck it - sorry.
Mind you I sometimes through stuff out because it's eat before today
I think I need counselling

Bozza · 19/01/2006 16:05

I would. Just make sure it's well cooked but then I suppose you would do that anyway.

littlemissbossy · 19/01/2006 17:13

It smelt funny, so I've thrown it and it's salmonella-free sausages instead

Well, I've just opened a pack of chicken breasts from Ocado with a use by date of tomorrow and they absolutely stank...bleuch!Guess what we're having instead - salmonella free sausages as well! V unusual for Ocado.
