Fondant icing decorations- how long do they last?

I'm making some cakes for a do on Friday morning and I'm going to decorate them with fondant icing (the instant stuff) made up so that I can mould little shapes out of it. I was planning to make the sponge cakes Thurs morning and decorate them Thurs afternoon. Can I make the little modelling bits up in advance?

If there are any flaws in my plan then please do point them out! TIA :)

Yes you can make them in advance. Make sure that you store them in a non plastic container. I found storing models in a card board box with a tea towel kept them dry. They will need to be made in advance to dry and set anyway.
