I left it on warm for 8 hours today and it's caramalised, so instead of a creamy white, it's more like a caramelly-mush. Too long?

sounds like it. i've made some and then finished it off in oven to get skin, and it was great - really creamy - so think you may have overcooked. given up on porridge though

Is it a big slow cooker? You could try doubling the amounts, otherwise there just isn't the depth of liquid in the pan to keep it from overcooking.

Mine did that when I didn't stir the sugar in well enough!

dreamingofsun · 18/01/2012 19:52

i have a feeling i put mine in for much less time, maybe 4 hours and thats part of the reason i finished it in oven

Ah! OK, do I make sure the sugar is melted before leaving it.

And double quantities.

Right. Will try that next time!
