Dinner party food - 70's style???

What springs to my mind is prawn cocktails, fondue and that's it. Anyone got any bright ideas as to what was fashionable for dinner in the 70's? Especially pud.

RTKangaMummy · 17/01/2006 10:28

Agree, black forest gateau has got to be the pudding. Or profiteroles!

Crepes Suzette
Peach Melba
Pears Belle Helene

There is a really good book by Simon Hopkinson (I think) called The Prawn Cocktail Years that has recipes from this era. Lot's of the dishes are really, really nice and should never have gone out of fashion IMHO.

Not really dinner party food, but we used to have Angel Delight a lot - chocolate one, with a bar of mint chocolate chopped up and mixed in. And it's still available, it seems...

My mum just said pavlova too - she makes a fantastic one. This is for my friend who's having us over for a dinner party on Saturday - 70's food but thank goodness not 70's dress!

thanks everyone
