for Saturday lunch, what would you want as a main course before it?

Lamb shank casserole, cooked for hours and hours, preceded by a long walk in the park.

Chicken Marengo with rice and crisp green salad!!!
With a lovely bottle of chardonney or Frascati or something very dry!

Something light, maybe baked salmon with warm potato salad and green beans.

I love the idea of picking the pudding and working backwards from there!

I'd go for something pretty light too. Maybe a chunky vegetable soup and some crusty bread?

Thanks!! for these.
It's the what-goes-with-what bit of cooking I can't do.

Now it's lunchtime, would anyone else like to consult their tum & advise?

OK, not something overly creamy or overly pie-like (pref not including bananas either, obviously). Baked salmon would be a delightful option, and/or Sophie Grigson has a fabulous salmon biriani on the Waitrose site which is both easy and authentic (my mum recommended it to me).
