smoked salmon, clever labelling?

When you buy smoked salmon do you buy the : Scottish smoked salmon, or the smoked Scottish salmon?
By implication the Scottish smoked could be from anywhere , and then smoked in Scotland.
Do I read that right?
And then the smoked Scottish should be the real stuff.

You're right - "smoked Scottish salmon" is salmon from Scotland, which has been smoked.

"Scottish smoked salmon" is salmon from anywhere, which was brought to Scotland and smoked there.

Sneaky of them, huh?

Very sneaky!
Will read label very carefully from now on.
