Whipped cream not holding

Does anybody know why whipped cream doesn't always "hold" for very long? Whipped some yesterday, put leftovers in fridge and today it was virtually liquid again. It wasn't over whipped, so hadn't separated, just returned to its previous state. This doesn't always happen though.
Could it have anything to do with fat content?

What sort of cream did you use?

You know you can easily rewhip it.

Was whipping cream. Not much choice here (in Belgium) - double cream is hard to come by.
Didn't know it could be re-whipped! So thanks for that tip.

Yeah whipping cream is rubbish, never holds its 'whip'.
