i have popped my slow cooker cherry with a fool proof rice pudding so they say

1.5 lt milk

150 g sugar

150 g pudding rice

butter squished round the pot

on high for 3 hrs

its been on for 3 hrs and is bubbling away but just a milky soup, can it be saved ?

Is the rice cooked or sitill hard? From what I hear with slow-cookers... they need a good seven or eight hours before anything starts to happen.

Clearly too late now, but if the rice was soft I would take the lid off and let some of the excess moisture evaporate, if the rice was hard then I would say leave it to cook for longer with the lid on (because the extra moisture needs to absorb into the rice)

I cook it on low all day - maybe that's more effective than high for a short period?

If the rice is soft, you can switch it off and wait. The milk should thicken and the pudding will become creamy. Defo by the next day :). But possibly in a couple of hours

well i turned it down to low for another coupe of hours

but i had put in a tin of condensed milk at the start instead of all the milk which

turned every thing caramely brown after 5 hours of bubbling away Blush

it was verrry sweet, but ok with icecream if you ate it in the dark

will try it on low all day tomorrow, with out the condensed milk
