For four adults four children? Preferably with meat in, I thought of stew with bread and then cheese, ham etc for if the children don't eat the stew? Any other ideas? Am rubbish at pastry otherwise would do quiche and salad etc. Indecisive and need to write shopping list tonight!

x posts heidihole, I feel I should make myself though, or would I do something with the cooked meat? Liking the salads ideas actually and would be easier to eat off laps

You could do the meat yourself, roast a chicken and roast a ham or leg of beef and use the cold meat. Any not left will be used up in sandwiches or dinner in the next few days. What about tomoto soup? or vegetable soup?

Thanks will have a look at some soup recipes. I am not used to doing lunch for some reason and we always just have snacky stuff but I feel it should be something I have made a bit ofan effort for. At least if I do soup or stew I can do it tomorrow night ready for sat.

Soup off laps (or in laps) is difficult so how about putting it into mugs. Would need to be a smooth soup (or with small chunks of whatever). Macaroni cheese with a big salad? Dauphinoise potatoes with cheese, onions, bacon, broccoli or whatever else you think would go with it. Meat loaf with baked potatoes. Just put the meat loaf mixture into the tin, refrigerate and cook on Saturday. Have a good day!

Thank you yes you are probably right! Jacket potatoes a good plan, or bread, salad and some sort of meaty dish? It would then have to be chicken though I guess? To go with salad I mean? Recnetly meat eating vegetarian here so clueless about what goes with what!

chilli is easy to make and goes well with jacket potatoes.

Could also do with wraps/salad so people could assemble themselves (chilli, salad leaves, tomato/onion salsa, peppers, cheese, sour cream, guacamole). Then kids only need have the bits they want.

Or plenty of other stuff goes well with wraps & salad - pulled pork, spicy/smoky chicken,

Thanks yes i think bread and salad and some sort of chickeny thing would be a plan. just seen mumsnet have a search function on the recipes bit so for stuff to prepare ahead. sorry for lack of capitals, pc playing up.
