How long to boil a ham bone?

Am boiling the bone and the offcuts. Haven't got the makings of a minestrone, or enough variety of vegs for anything much else (have got carrots, swedes, onions) so may strain and cool the stock and use it tomorrow.

well I have it three hours, by which time, with a bit of help from a couple of forks, the meat was falling off the bone. Have strained and chilled it.

There was a surprising amount of fat, might skim it off and try it for frying bacon and eggs.
