Prawns and salmon with use by 24th Dec do I freeze?

Hi Tesco has just delivered me my Christmas Shop and the prawns and salmon I want to use on Christmas day have a use by of 24th December. Both say they are suitable for home freezing so do I freeze and then defrost or do you think it will be ok to just keep in fridge and use the day after the use by? Don't want to be ill on Christmas night so thought I would ask TIA

Any fish and seafood I'd definitely adhere to the use by date (its not 'best before') so I'd freeze even though you're not likely to defrost overnight in fridge on 24th. Better to be safe than sorry. If its smoked salmon then I'd probably think it'd be OK - although for the sake of a bit of faff just in case....?
