LookIng for an easy meal to cook for Xmas eve for parents and me. Df is fussy only likes simple food ie steak pie meat and potatos but loves chocolate puddings any ideas? I'd like to do something nice.

Grilled steak with chips, peas and salad.

We're going to have the ham, with maybe cauliflower cheese or mac cheese and a few other buffet bits for the kids. And a chocolate yule log.

How about slow roasting a shoulder of pork (rub with mustard powder) with apples and onions then serving it in soft white buns with glasses of cider? That's what we're having.

This chocolate pudding is dead simple (got the idea from another mumsnetter), but tastes amazing. Really quick to make :)

I make it in individual ramekins

We always have homemade soup (done the day before) and crusty bread (my parents come to stay Christmas eve afternoon).

Nice chocs/stollen etc a bit later on.

Another family here who serve pork sandwiches.

Huge joint. Fresh white rolls. Unsalted butter. Serve with crackling on the side.
