New ways with melon?

I know that I am previous, but I am trying to think of a Christmas day starter! Dp's dad is coming and he doesn't eat fish, cheese, garlic, peppers, pears, avocado, anything spicy, add to this me being a fish eating veggie and I have a problem! Done lovely fishy starters for the last couple of years, but I'm a bit stuck for this year. Don't want to do soup as I prefer something very light and dont want to give him something different to everyone else. I seem to have done quite a few variations on melon for him in the past so could do with some new ideas! please?

Grapefuit segments ? If you mix ordinary grapefruit with pink grapefruit it looks really pretty.

Sorry it's not melon but how much can you do with melon apart from cutting it in different shapes ?!

You can serve it with parma ham which is really nice, but I expect you will have tried that already.

Jamie Oliver puts a hole into a water melon and then a funnel in the hole. Every so often he pour vodka into the funnel. Takes about 2 days and about half a bottle of vodka. Chop up and serve ... gets everyone off to a flying start.

Otherwise :

  • MElon segments with raspberry coulis.
  • Melon with palma ham and rocket ( Take melon out of skin and makemore of a salad out of it )
