Using a number 2 cake tin for birthday cake

Hello.

Does anyone know what recipe I would use for a number 2 cake tin in terms of quantity? I was planning on making a chocolate sponge, but can't seem to find out how much I need to make.

Can't get hold of the shop I am hiring the tin from either!

TIA

I use number cake tins for all birthday cakes and the hire shop recommend a 3 egg sponge. If it rises well enough that is usually fine and I slice it in half and fill with jam and cream before icing. If I think we need a huge cake I've been known to do two 3 egg sponges and sandwich them together! Hope this helps.

Hi - Sorry I meant to reply earlier.

Thats exactly what I did, using Nigella's buttermilk birthday cake mix, turned out great.

Thanks for your reply.
