I love crisps - what are they - if they're worth £8 they must be good. I need to know. Please tell me.

Rhubarb · 11/01/2006 20:57

They're made with real gold leaf that you can eat.

fireflyfairy2 · 11/01/2006 21:00

Maybe it was a box?? Maybe it was a box of TAYTO cheese and onion?? All the way from Ireland??? mmmmmm that'd be worth £8!

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 11/01/2006 23:02

don't start me - I had some Tayto C&Os at my Dad's over Christmas - talk about moreish. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Well, I've been trying to get to the bottom of this one. DP says his mate paid £8 for 1 bag he ordered via the net. He reckons they're called Burt's. I've checked their website, and can't see how he possibly paid £8 per bag. They do look very yummy though.

Burts are a crisp company in devon, each packet of crisps has the name of the field the pots were grown in and the name of the person who made them
they're normally 60p for a small bag and £2.50 for a big bag
they're v.good

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 12/01/2006 22:49

Burts shot themselves in the foot recently - all this hand made by a named person bollox - their factory was featured on one of Little Cook Small's flying visits a while back and it was clear that maybe some bloke pops the potatoes into the first part of the washing & peeling machine, but from then on it was pretty much automated. That said, they are nice crisps, and I know my crisps. Mmm crisps. their Salt & Vinegar ones are good, the lobster ones are a bit like G&W Prawn Cocktail with extra chilli, so not worth the money. I can't have crisps in the house as I'd just eat them - and now I really fancy some.

Our local farmer's market has a stall that makes crisps and they are excellent! I do like Burt's though as they always taste fresh (and I don't care if "Bob" didn't make them).

I've died and gone to crisp heaven - Tayto have just bought Golden Wonder (who had gone into administration earlier this week) !!!!!
