Ermmm half Xmas Blush Although to be fair I've had it for breakfast and lunch. Having proper meal tonight. And there are carrots in it Xmas Wink

Weird thing is I don't have a sweet tooth?? It's just so moist and delicious, hence all those 5 star ratings. I can go to the bakers and buy cakes for everyone and not bother for myself. Really don't think I'll be making this again in a hurry unless it's for someone else. I've already promised a friend one she adores carrot cake.

That's the recipe I use to make muffins DP and I can eat a dozen in a day

The icing is LUSH

Bunbaker · 10/12/2011 15:41

I frequent a couple of food forums and the posters on there rave about this recipe as well.

Can I suggest another cake not to make if you are on a diet:
Dorset apple cake

I saw Ade Edmondson make this the other week and it is unbelievably delicious and extremely moreish.

fivegomadindorset · 10/12/2011 15:45

Oh Dorset Apple cake, warm with vanilla ice cream.

PurplePidjInAPearTree · 10/12/2011 16:00

I'm now making coffee and almond cupcakes which I will ice with chocolate mascarpone when DP gets back from the shop with the mascarpone...

CuriousMama · 10/12/2011 16:04

I've made Dorset Apple cake it's so easy! Good idea to have it warm with ice cream.

I wonder if i'm changing with age? I used to be into savouries but I've just asked dp to bring me in a mcd's festive pie Confused

Shouldn't make Guinness cake either not only is it huge but it is amazing, I was giving slices to everyone who visited and that was after FIL took a 3rd of it with him! Its bloody good cake though Grin

Tweetinat · 10/12/2011 16:23

As soon as I saw you say it was so moist and scrummy I knew it would be this recipie! I never bake if I can help it but this is one I love to make as it tastes sooo good. I like to add pumpkin seeds and other chopped nuts in the mix and sometimes raisins too. Yum yum. Grin it also freezes really well and defrosts in no time at all so I batch cook an treat myself if having a crap day.

CuriousMama · 10/12/2011 16:27

You know you're not helping don't you QJD Xmas Wink

Yes I thought of adding nuts Tweetinat, will try that next time.

Chocca mocha caramel cake sounds dreamy... But what are chocolate caramel bars in the ingredients? Do they mean Mars bars?

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 17/12/2011 23:06

It's cadbury's Caramel Bars, the ones in the yellow and purple wrappers, chocolate with soft caramel centres.

theseventhdwarf · 18/12/2011 09:10

this is my first recipepost so hoping it s good enough to imporess you all!

MadMonkeys · 23/12/2011 14:13

Of course! I'd forgotten about Caramel bars (everso virtuous, me, chocolate hardly ever passes my lips. It's just the cake that does!!Grin).
