Last years mincemeat - still ok?

I made mincemeat for mince pies last Christmas and only used two jars so have one left that has been lurking at the back of the pantry - could it be used this year or will we all die of botulism?

It depends on the recipe you used 'cos i've got some from a Delia Smith recipe I made in 2009 and it's still absolutely fine. I think because she says to cook it slowly and the sugar and booze preserves it!

I can't remember whose recipe it was but there was lots of brandy in it - should I just try it and see if I last the day?

If you make some mince pies with it and deliver them to my house I will nobly and selflessly volunteer to scarf the lot taste them for you Grin
