Well, here's what I'd do...

Open tin. Sniff contents. Get DP to taste contents. If he says its ok, taste contents myself to check. If he says its not ok, give contents to dog.

It's not the cost that concerns me baubley but I've finally found a use for it and the irony is that I've found a use for it two years too late and hence have to get rid of it. I hate wasting things.
