Gingercake Topping

I've made a couple of gingerbread cakes for a cake sale and I'm thinking they look a little plain and might be helped out by a little bit of sweet bling.

I was thinking of a citrus icing with some zest to add colour - orange, lemon or lime. I have them all in the fridge. So which do you think would go down well? - naked, citrus (which one?) or something else? I'm tempted to buy my own cakes back so I want them to taste good!

Usually, I have it plain with a big slab of butter. Xmas Grin

All would be good, lemon would probably be the most obvious one to use.

I always put lemon icing on gingerbread , and am in good company because it was Nigella's idea :)

Has to be lemon. (hello BBB! Smile) My mum makes a lemon butter icing for her ginger cake and it's fantastic.

Looks like lemon is winning the popular vote. Will experiment with lime & orange another time.

Cheers!
