Is there an alternative to icing sugar for icing?

Silly question really but just wondered if there is an alternative. Want to make a lemon sponge with icing and really don't want to go out.
I have caster sugar, would that do?
Thanks

Yes, dissolve the caster sugar in a little hot water, add a dash of lemon juice and spread over the top with a pastry brsh. yum!

put the caster sugar into liquidiser/blender to make it finer like icing sugar.

It will make a glaze rather than topping, and if you put enough on it will go all crispy crunchy [drool]

So Blossom - did it work?

Blossomhill · 07/01/2006 20:57
