can I just cook it slowly in the oven?

I want to make pulled pork

The recipe says to cook it for 8 to 10 hrs in a slow cooker

What if I bung it in a casserole dish in the oven, would it work? And fir how long? And what temperature?

Should I just go and buy a slow cooker?

You don't need a slow-cooker. Make sure your casserole has a well-fitting lid, put it on the lowest setting your oven will go to.... Gas 1/4 or 1/2, 110 - 130C... and bake for the recommended time.

I love love love my slow cooker. They are v cheap (£10 ish) in supermarkets. I would say buy one, you don't NEED it, but they're ace!

IMO it will taste better in the oven!
