Red onion tart tatin

We're having friends over for dinner tomorrow and I am attempting a red onion tart tatin for a starter.

I can't do individual ones as I haven't got enough individual trays so I'm going to do one big one and serve each person a triangle. I want it to look nice so what can I garnish it with?

Delia says with shavings of parmesan. You could have a bit of rocket on the side too.

Little bits of Black Pudding would go really well (unless anyone is vegetarian I suppose ....)

Sorry I forgot to add that we're Jewish and are having a meat meal so parmesan is out (as is black pudding obviously!).

Sprigs of fresh thyme, it tastes delicious with a red onion tart.

Or feta crumbled on top, also tastes delicious.

Or a balsamic glaze (can buy it in in Waitrose, Tesco, M & S etc) drizzled over the top.

Mmm, making me hungry just thinking about it! Smile

or a blue cheese or goats cheese. yum! Smile

Why not serve the whole tart on the table, with little bowls of accompaniments like feta, blue cheese, herbs, balsamic vinaigrette and a salad? And people can help themselves to whatever they like.
