Informal, easy family lunch for 12

We have some family popping in on Sunday and I'd planned on doing soup and nice bread. Nothing massive or fancy.

Now BIL and his family are coming too and I'm worried that they may not like the soup (cauliflower cheese soup from Jamie's MoF).

Any ideas for what else I can serve alongside? I had thought sandwiches, but they're quite time consuming to make for twelve people and could involve, "who has butter/ham/cheese/mayo" etc complicating it further.

Could you do help yourself stuff? Bread, ham, cheese (all nice of course), salad and other kinds of extra nibbly stuff?
I'm lazy - so this is what I do and it's always gone down well.

Good idea, just lay it all out and folk can make their own butties!

Don't know why I didn't think of that... Blush

Could you make another type of soup too. I always do a tomato soup as that seems to be liked by most
