Hi all, posted this in Parties/Celebrations but it's very quiet over there so hoping you all can help.

We're having a party on NYE, on the pretence of just a normal party however we are in fact getting married that morning and will be announcing it to everyone at the party

The ceremony is at 1pm and we will be going for a nice lunch with out witnesses afterwards, so between that and looking after DS1 (7mths) I won't have time to be cooking and tbh, don't really want to, so apart from the obligatory cocktail sausages, I would love to only do chilled food which I can leave in the fridge (ideally the day before, but don't mind if some has to be done that afternoon). My ideas so far are quite boring, so some inspiration would be great, but nothing too fancy/complicated please!

So far I have -

Smoked salmon wraps (pinched from another thread on here)
Prawn cocktail
Naice ham!
Potato salad
Coleslaw
Dips and breadsticks

That sounds lovely, congratulations!

Morrisons have a great bit on the deli counter where you can get things like pakoras and bhajiis to serve without cooking.

Don't sweat over the cooking, everyone will be so thrilled that they won't care about the food! Grin

Thank you storminabuttercup. I'm in NI so we don't have Morrisons (or Waitrose) here, but I'll have a look in my local Tesco/Sainsburys for similar ideas.

Congratulations!

Starters sound perfect.

I would base the buffet around Nice Ham, a whole cooked salmon and some cooked chickens.

Serve with

Coleslaw
potato salad
green salad
pasta salad
Lots of crusty bread

Desserts and cheese

Coffee and cake later on

Have a fab time!

I wouldn't cook at all. Too many other fun things to do! Smile

Cold meats
Pâtés
Good cheese
Nice bread (buy par cooked ones so you can bake them yourself before the party for super freshness).

Olives
Dips (bought or made)
Crisps

Done. Without wanting to Sound too poncy/Jamie Oliver about things, a selection of good quality bits that aren't cooked is probably better than piles of sausage rolls etc.

Congratulations!!
