Just made soup with the chicken one - really nice. I'm pleasantly surprised as I hate stock cubes.

Have bought beef ones too and will report back later once I've made something with them!

Are they the ones advertised by Marco Pierre White? I was hoping they'd be nasty as I cannot abide that man!

BlastOff · 21/11/2011 19:37

Oh yes, i agree, they are lovely. Actually, I think the beef ones are even nicer. I used on in beef casserole yesterday and it was delicious (if I say so myself!)

Trills · 21/11/2011 19:38

Those gel thingys - they're nice aren't they?

VeryStressedMum · 21/11/2011 21:12

I'm going to get some now I think Smile

Man yes, they are and I can't either! Grin

Vegetable ones are divine.

I always think of mucus plugs when looking at them in their raw form though.

AgentProvocateur · 22/11/2011 08:51

I agree they are lovely, except the herb one. It made my spag bol taste most peculiar.

betabaker · 22/11/2011 12:05

The beef ones are really good for minestrone (posted recipe in a soup thread couple of months ago). Expensive [on a budget here] but worth it if soup is main course - followed by pudding naturally!

I have a pot of Scouse on the hob atm and used a beef one - smells lovely and just had a quick taste and it is delicious mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Grin

Will look out for the mucas plug ones, I always wondered what one looked like as I had a section Grin

8 for £1.99 in Tescos - how does that compare to Oxo cubes price wise?

I find them very salty. Maybe they've changed the recipe since I last tried them.

RnB · 23/11/2011 19:57

I agree - they are fab. Used one yesterday and was tempted to start a thread myself!

valiumredhead · 23/11/2011 21:48

*lizzie - you add water right? I like them because they are not as salty as the cubes.
