Looking for pasta salad ideas. Currently make tuna pasta sald with sweetcorn, vineagar, mayo and of course tuna and a chicken on with sweetcorn, diced pepper, pineapple, sultanas, tomato paste, mayo, chicken and crispy onions.

your chicken one sounds nice, I must try it.

I do pesto let down with a bit of olive oil then put in diced ham, sweetcorn, chopped little tomatoes and lots of olives and mozzarella.

This is great hot or cold. I normally add sweetcorn too. www.hwtm.com/recipe_box/joolsafternoonpasta

Pasta, red leceister, tomatoes, mayonnaise, vinegar and seasoning...sounds boring, lol, it's nice though

Pasta
Olives
cucumber
cherry tomotoes (roughly chopped)
chives
To make the dressing , put three whole garlic cloves in with the pasta to cook, then mash them with a fork and add to 3 tblspns of virgin olive oil and 1 tbsn of red wine vinegar.
sometimes i'll add mozzerella too.

Pasta salad is contradiction.

Pasta is to be served hot and fresh and "pasta salad" belongs only to Tescos as a money spinner in a plastic box for idiots.

Pasta gone cold is like love long ago.
Feels bad revisited and can't be reheated.

Find me an Italian woman who will serve cold pasta and I will give you a billion pieces of cold pasta.

JeremyVile · 20/11/2011 03:06

Yes...all you silly, silly people!

You thought you liked your pasta salads

Well, listen now and listen good - you never have and never will like pasta salad. In fact pasta salad doesnt exist you morons. You were all very much mistaken to think otherwise.

From now on please refrain from relying on your taste buds to tell you what kind of food you enjoy...locate your nearest Italian Woman and ASK her what she likes to eat and then simply copy her. Its for the best.

sharond101 · 23/11/2011 13:04

MiniMonty and JeremyVile I have not once had a nasty comment in my short time using the Mumsnet forums but both of your posts are very rude and hurtful. What works for one person will not always work for another and just because Italian women don't serve cold pasta doesn't mean anyone else in the world cannot. Who said we Brits have to put jam on our peanut butter sandwiches because the Americans do or that we should not visit Pizza Hut as it's really not very authentically Italian. I think you need to question your manners.

sharon - my post wasnt directed at you! Not at all, I was sending up (badly probably - it was late) MiniMonty for being so very weirdly judgy about pasta salad!
You are probably right to tick me off for rudeness, but rest assured it certainly wasn't you I was being rude to.

bibbitybobbitybloodyaxe · 24/11/2011 20:19

I like Jamie Oliver's purely salady one:

cherry tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, olives, basil, olive oil, red wine vinegar and mustard. Yummy! Would also add tiny cubes of mozarella to that OR some tuna or salmon OR cold diced chicken.

lubeybaublely · 24/11/2011 20:21

I understood you there JV! :o

My daughter has an Italian father and she likes cold pasta and in fact so does he so NER. (to MiniMonty)

AurraSing · 24/11/2011 20:34

Grin at JV. Who would have thought that pasta salad could cause so much passion.

I really want pasta salad, but I don't want my family to think I'm an idiot. Sigh.

painterly · 01/12/2011 18:51

bacon and egg pasta is one of my brunch favourites.
