Quick: *lightly* steamed sprouts. How long?

Fancy some sprouts, don't fancy raw or mush, they need to be tender with a bith of crunch. Any idea how long I should steam them? Or, is boiling better?

Oh, and do I cut a cross in the bottom or not?

I wouldn't cut a cross, that just seems to make them soggy IMO.

Cooking wise, depends how big they are really - I would steam them and test one at 3.5 min or so to see how they're doing.

Ah, got distracted peeling the buggers. Forgot what a faff it is Hmm

Thanks for that Tyelperion, I'll give it a go. They're pretty small now I've finished peeling them.
