Christmas pudding - a quick question

I made my Christmas pudding today and was planning to steam it tomorrow, then realised it takes EIGHT HOURS to steam, which I can't do as have to go to work. So, do you think I'll be ok to leave the mixture until Thursday when I'm next off work? I know the dried fruit etc will be quite happy sat stewing for a couple of days, but it also has a diced cooking apple in so wasn't sure if that'd spoil? It's all mixed up and sat in alcohol.

Please tell me I can leave it, otherwise I'll have to set it off cooking tomorrow after work and get up at 3am to deal with it.

Sounds fine. Bung it in the fridge just to be sure. I haven't done this myself but would certainly risk it.

Thanks. To be honest I'll prob never know if it turns out badly, as I don't eat the disgusting stuff myself, and my family will be too nice to tell me if it's awful (or if they go they can get stuffed!). Will go and make some room in the fridge....

The puds I make need 6 hours steaming - so we do three hours and then on christmas day or when ever we want them we steam for the other 3 hours.

I have stirred the puddings ect I have left the puddings for a week before steaming for the first time - they have been lovely.

Did you add brandy/whiskey

We are not making any this year as we have a backlog of 5 puddings Grin

That's reassuring, thanks. And I have added rum and stout (delis recipe).

I am just going to leave it til Thursday, I'm sure it'll be fine. Will do all the steaming then as taking it to my sister's for Christmas lunch and she likes to heat it in the microwave.

Right, next job is Christmas cake, something to do on Thursday while steaming the pudding I suppose! Smile
