veggie sausages?

It's dd's 16th party next week in a hall for lots so food is v simple - basically hot dogs. Can anyone recommend decent vegetarian sausages? Am planning to cook and cool in the morning at home, then heat in the basic ovens at the hall.

Thanks

Quorn sos are fine. Wouldn't heat twice though, coz they will be tough as old boots. Take em thawed and flash 'em in pan or under grill or heat in the oven with the others, in different pan of course! And put a little oil in as they don't have much fat in like ordinary sos. Hth.

Yes I like the Quorn ones, they have a few varieties including ones with Bramley apple or Branston if you want something a bit different. Have never got on with the Linda McCartney ones...

Linda McCartney and Quorn have been rejected by my veggie daughter - having tried them myself I have to agree!
Tesco used to do a Lincolnshire style one which was nice but now discontinued, they also do hot dog style veggie sausages but I haven't tried them myself.
The sausage of choice in this house are Cauldron ones.
I'd also agree with not cooking at reheating if possible, veggie sausages do not behave the same as meat ones.

Thank you - will do as you say and cook them there! Knowing the hall, will take my own pan though. Won't be in the same quantity as the meat one so won't cause a logistical problem.

Tesco hot dog style sausages are actually really pretty close to the real thing. I'm a meat eater, but DH not so we only have veggie sausages in this house. I'm fussy when it comes to sausages and have tried lots of veg versions. I prefer the Linda McCartney ones over Quorn.

I love Sainsbury's veggie hotdogs, they are delicious.

tootssweet · 05/11/2011 21:39

Veggie hotdogs are good even 6yo DD likes them (serious hot dog fanGrin) also sainsburys do a good own brand one that we had recently (cauldron fans here then quorn - LM way too ugh!)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/11/2011 23:18

The Sainsbo's home brand veggie hotdogs (in the freezer section) are very nice.

Cauldron all the way here

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 06/11/2011 23:22

Yes - to cook them quickly, go for the hotdog sausages - I haven't met a horrible (veggie) hot dog yet.

Thank you all. Will try some today.

All I need to do now is order bread and buy a shed load of yucky ketchup! Individually dd's friends all seem great but I must admit a big party for 16yos is hardly my idea of a fun Saturday night! Will breathe a huge sigh of relief and sleep better once it's over!
