Informal Nov 5th Menu

Got to feed about a dozen people tomorrow night. Mixture of kids and adults.

Don't want to spend too much time faffing.
Was thinking loaded potato skins. Sausages are obligatory surely for Nov 5th.
But what else.
Any ideas?

Smile Burgers Toffee Apples (buy them)
MardyBra · 04/11/2011 10:43

Hadn't thought of toffee apples. Good idea.

Cup cakes with chocolate icing and hundreds of thousands - firework cakes!

LowLevelWhiiingeing · 04/11/2011 10:52

Black peas, in a cup, with lashings of salt and vinegar. In fact I'm going to go and soak some now.

If you are a southerner or something, you may have to make do with normal peas.

MardyBra · 04/11/2011 11:00

Fireworks cakes sound great.

I'm afraid I'm not a peas fan (whatever colour), but good idea.

I did a slow roast pork shoulder joint a couple of weeks ago (and the joint was half price in tesco too).

Pork in le creuset with lid on.
Oven at 80 degrees. Cooked in about 8 hours to perfect butty consistency.

No gagging required at all.

LowLevelWhiiingeing · 04/11/2011 11:58

Damn you autocorrect! FAFFING not GAGGING obv.

Definitely no gagging required though.

juneybean · 04/11/2011 12:00

LMAO was trying to work out what we were gagging then... Wink

coraltoes · 04/11/2011 13:41

Corn on the cob? Loads of butter and salt. You can cook theithe day and just reheat in evening.
Spicy chicken drummers/ wings?

I'd think if doing sausages then maybe don't do pork butties...a bit porky otherwise.

SOrry for any typos. My I pad is playing silly buggers.

thestringcheesemassacre · 04/11/2011 13:42

Yes yes to the pork. Lovely chutney and white rolls.

MardyBra · 04/11/2011 14:36

Bugger. Left it too late to get an ocado slot. Will have to go out in the rain.

I do not do gagging food!

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Mmmm the pork rolls sound good.

Mugs of yummy soup and crusty bread/french stick?

Fire up the barbie and let the men do the cooking - no faffing involved at all then!

ChippyMinton · 04/11/2011 14:47

I'm doing bangers & beans with jacket spuds, followed by sticky chocolate and marshmallow pud tomorrow.
