Buffet food for a 1st birthday

Can anyone help with ideas for DS2's birthday in a couple of weeks? I love cooking for kid's parties but both DS1 and DH's birthdays are in the Spring/Summer so we do a BBQ or loads of salady stuff, which just doesn't seem right for a party in November. Also, the other time of year that we do buffets are at Christmas but it just seems too early for that sort of thing, so not really sure what to make.

I like to do mostly homemade stuff as I think it is better for the kids and tastes better and to compete with SIL who buys all her kids party stuff in Also, there will about 9 kids aged between 1 and 10 as well as about 15 adults

The party will be vaguely jungle themed as DS2 has taken to roaring at everyone like a lion recently so the cake will be a lion shape but other than that I am stumped.

Is the party at home? I would have lots of pizza dough ready rolled into little circles and have lots of veg and meat - and then get the kids to decorate their own individual pizzas which you bung in the oven. Obviously you'll still have to make other stuff but might be fun thing for the younger kids to do.
