3.5 should be fine and tescos one is currently on special.

ours is 3.5 litres - family of 5 - and its perfect. not great for whole chickens and very large joints - but for everything else its great. i'd go for cheap one - got my basic model (low/high/autmatic setting) about 30 years ago and its still going strong

I have a 3.5 litre one from Tesco bought for a tenner. It is adequate for casseroles for 2 days and I have the same family size.
It's served me well for a few years but....I'm bored.

I have just bought a 6.5L one from Aldi for £18 which I'm going to post about later as I want to do small gammons/hams in cider and whole chickens as I can't fit a decent sized one in the 3.5L.

If you have room to store the smaller one on top of cupboards etc you'll find room for the bigger one too.

I have had a 3.5l one for years & is well used

have just bought a 6.5l one as am trying to build up a stock of meals in the freezer so am cooking tons & freezing extra

smaller one is fine for your size family if you just want it for the meal & no extras

& the slow cookers were on offer in argos as that's where I got my new one

Thanks cricket, you've answered my post!

Have just bought an Aldi 6.5L unknown brand one which hasn't even left the boot of my car.
I've now got a Breville one on reservation from Argos. Don't know why but I trust the longevity of the Breville more for some reason.

i bought a 5.5l last week and it is huge, made a large stew for 4 of us with left overs and it was only half full.

Will look at morgs thread with interest as i am interested in doing whole joints in it.

Wow, what a find cricket! 4.5L and 5.5L ones on sale at Argos.

Definitely mumm2c - I'd get a slightly larger one than the standard 3.3L.
