Whole chicken in the slow cooker ?

I am sure I read on here recently that you can put a whole chicken in a slow cooker

I have always had one but have just bought a 6l one & want to put a chicken in & leave it,so if I am correct & I did see this then how,for how long & anything else I should know ?

I do it all the time. I give it a bit of a fry first if I have time and chuck it in with some stock, vegetables etc.

I do it a lot, tho I dont even bother frying it first.

Simply pop the chicken in, put lid on and leave on the low setting for 8 hours.
OK it isnt 'browned', but the meat is really tender and just falls off the bone.

:o well thanks peoples,done it,loved it & so did dc

it fell right off the bone,no carving required but next time will put in for slightly less time,am now a convert,no more roasting chicken in the oven
