Hi dh took something out of the freezer yesterday to defrost thinking it was chilli. I have now discovered its a piece of brisket. We have had a lamb roast today and are having a abirthday celebration tomorrow so I won't be cooking it then either and don't want to leave it Io the fridge til Tuesday and I don't want to chuck it. any ideas what I can do with it? Can you chop it up and braise it? Then use it for something and then freeze?

Someone please share your wisdom.

Can you chuck it in a stew to freeze? If you have a slow cooker lob it in there wirh some herbs stock and red wine? Then freeze it.

Brown it in some oil in a casserole, add an onion (quartered) three or four carrots, peeled and quartered, and a parsnip and some celery same sort of sized pieces. Make 1 pint beef stock with Knorr or OXO and put in the oven on a moderate heat for a couple of hours.

Normally you would serve as your sunday joint, but too late for that now. You can always have it for cold meat. Brisket is delicious!

Pie? steak and kidney, steak & ale?
We love pies!
If you make enough filling, divide into two and keep back in freezer for the next one. Best make the filling day before, chill and pop on pastry in the evening.
Not a fan of stews myself. Nigella does shin into chilli but brisket is similar.

I would never throw out meat.

It's not going to go off if you leave it until Tuesday.

Just keep it in the fridge until you want it.
