Bananas: help or hindrance?

If there's a toddler poo-a-brewing, will (eating) a banana help it along or help to keep it stuck where it is? My view is that it's fruit and must help. DP quotes to me the aptly named U.S. BRAT diet for diarrhoea, which stands for Bananas, rice, applesauce & toast. (he reasons: if used to dry up the squits, it can't help to instigate a stuck poo).
Please no suggestions of insertion....

I've always been of the view that they bung you up. Lots of water and dried apricots would be more e ffective.

Yep - no good for poo assistance!

Dried apricots/prunes should help though.
