fix my cabbage soup!

On mon, I made a soup in the slow cooker with 1/2 savoy cabbage, carrots, potatoes, swede, and parsnips (plus salt, pepper, and tarragon. No onion or garlic as DH can't digest these properly). The soup made loads but we've had it twice now (with cream and extra salt and pepper ), but it wasn't very good...

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it/what to add to make it nice? (it is just about edible as-is and I am dreading having it for lunch tomorrow )

Do you make it with plain water or with stock? I would probably try a stock cube or two, a couple of spoonfuls of Marigold Bouillon Powder, or if you're feeling fancy, a carton of the fresh stuff you can get at the supermarket! Perhaps a good handful of chopped fresh parsley (or your herb of choice) before serving? Hope that helps!

chopped cooked bacon might be nice.

I made it with plain water (running out of time!). DH is veg, so I'll try ChrissaMissis's suggestion for his (would you make up the stock, or just dump the powder into the soup?), and for lunch I might well fry some bacon, then add the soup [hsmile]
Thanks ladies!
