I've tried a few different recipes but never seem to get one where the flapjack turns out just right. It's either too hard & crunchy or falling apart when lifted out the tin. I have a good fan oven, oats, caster sugar, golden syrup & margarine (no butter left this week).

Now all I need is a fool proof recipe please that the children will beable to help me with this morning & enjoy eating. The big problem is no-one else will eat them so I end up stuffing my face til they're gone Blush.

Please help Smile

I use the Dairy book of Home Cooking one and it is always lovely.
100g butter
75g golden syrup
75g soft brown sugar (your caster sugar will be ok but get soft brown for next time)
225g oats
I always use half as much again though as I make it in a brownie tin. Melt the first three ingredients in the microwave. Put the oats into the melted mixture and stir. Press into the tin. (mine is silicon, you will need to line/grease a metal one)
. I cook at 180 for about 20-25 mins, I take it out when it's only just starting to change colour as we like ours chewy, leave it longer if you want it a bit more crunchy.
When you take it out of the oven cut it into squares but leave in the tin til totally cold otherwise it will fall apart.
