DP cooked a turkey yesterday but it wasn't ready til the kids were in bed so the plan was to put it in the fridge to have for dinner today. When I went to bed at about 11 it was still too warm to put in the fridge. I've come downstairs and it's still sitting in the kitchen covered in foil.

Will it be ok to cook it today or is it only ok if it had been in the fridge?

Personally I wouldn't eat it. Too risk IMO.

I had a picture of your turkey out partying all night

it will be fine, as long as it was cooked thoroughly in the first place. Also if you reheat it, make sure it is reheated thoroughly.

Sleighmenere · 27/12/2005 12:23

Senorappt is right, it will be fine once it is reheated thoroughly

We cooked our turkey on Xmas Day - since then it has been sat on the worktop in foil - I had two lots of turkey sandwiches yesterday and I'm fine! Also my two brothers, Dad and dh - all eaten it and all fine.

It was fully cooked when we took it out and the plan is to slice it and put some of the jelly back on it and put it back in the oven....

Just want to be extra sure as the kids will be eating it and i'm pg so extra wary!!

Technically thinsg like that (cold meat etc) should not be out of a frdige for more than 4 hours after they have cooled.

allthough lots of people do eat it and are ok all are risking food poisoning!

i personally wouldnt eat it

merrySOAPBOXingday · 28/12/2005 00:14

I'd eat it - before fridges cooked meat was kept in a larder for 3 or 4 days before being eaten.

Skribble · 28/12/2005 00:41

Unless you have an aga going full bung all night or use your kitchen as a sauna it should be OK.
