Please help me with a dinner party menu

For a group of 10. I am cooking with a friend, but she's asked me to plan the menu. We've already decided that the main will be Delia's lasagna, and of course there will be copious amounts of bread and wine. I don't want to do the usual boring (for Texas) menu. What you think is boring will likely be exotic to us! We do this four times a year and enjoy playing at being posh. I am trying to decide on:

Starter
Salad
Maybe a light soup since its getting cool?
A veg?
A showstopping dessert. Tiramisu was done a couple of parties ago.

Thank you for helping!

I thknk with lasagne you don't really need a formal starter
so I would do crudites and dips while people are sitting around having a pre dinner drink
then I'd do lasagne, salad, garlic bread
then desert would be something light like eton mess

I agree.
Lasagne is heavy going.
How about a great dip or two, and some olives?

I'd do a tropical fruit salad.

ooh yes tropical fruit salad.... yum
I find some mains just don't lend themselves to much of a starter or a heavy dessert and lasagne is very carb heavy
