Does anyone know how to make / where to buy that salty / spicey powder stuff that you can dip bread in? I think it's Egyptian, and I think it might begin with a k...or a d....?

Sumac?

ISawFrannyandZooeyKissingSanta · 21/12/2005 08:19

No, sorry....I think it's got sesame seeds and cumin in...I will know it when I see it. You dip bread in olive oil and then in the spice mix.

Fantastic Enid, I can do that easy-peasy. This is my drop dead stylish and simple Boxing Day nibble. I love traditional Egyptian Christmas food, don't you?

Enideepmidwinter · 21/12/2005 08:28

I love most egyptian/middle eastern food full stop

ISawFrannyandZooeyKissingSanta · 21/12/2005 12:29

You can come HC, it's to my posh sister's on Boxing Day. You will fit right in with your plummy vowels

Enid, would you think it was ok to bring this as pre-dinner nibbles to someone else's house? It won't overpower the main course or anything?
