Dinner for 8 - what would you cook?

We seem to have invited 6 friends over for supper on Friday night! I love to cook but I'm lacking in inspiration - what would you cook? Preferably 3 courses with room to pre prepare the day before.

Curry or a stew or something that you could put in the slow cooker?

We have done the same thing. I am going to do a butternut and chilli soup, with homemade bread, then probably a pork belly and then a pear tarte tartin. But that may change - the soup and the pudding can be done the day before and warmed up on the day and the pork can just chug away quietly in the oven.
