gin and tonic tart - it's basically a lemon tart spiked with gin, with a gin and lemon syrup poured over the top. I am making it for Boxing Day - very excited. Can pm the recipe if you want.

MrsPlugThePlumber · 22/12/2011 10:46

bluesky you haven't written limes in the ingredients, but lemons is there twice - can you tell us how many of each, please? (sounds lush!) - thanks!

Thanks Maureen for the lime cheesecake recipe. I made it at Christmas and it was lovely - will definitely make again. :)

Super easy dessert - affogato. Serve a bowl of really nice vanilla icecream with crushed amaretto biscuits. Serve at table with a shot of espresso and a shot of amaretto. Guests pour over the icecream at table. Yummy, simple and looks impressive if you have nice espresso cups and/or shot glasses.

Have made nigella's snowflake brownies tonight, could easily serve this with a raspberry coulis or cream at a dinner party, and am going to make her easy party trifle tomorrow...

Hazelnut Chestnut Thingy, its a hazelnut meringue, sandwiched with cream and a delish mixture of sweet chestnut puree, cream and chocy. Its from a classic goodhousekeeping cookbook and is the yummiest pudding EVER and a bit different.

Dillytante · 12/05/2012 18:24

Marking for cheesecake recipe for tomorrow.

minipie · 12/05/2012 21:05

also marking for cheesecake recipe - I think this is like the one my MIL makes (specially for me as she knows I love cheesecake Smile I do love my MIL).

Think my most successful dinner party pud is pavlova, I do it with halved grapes and a bit of brandy in the cream, and let the meringue stay chewy in the middle. Other options: Nigella's chocolate fondant puds from How to Eat. Orange and almond cake. Apple syllabub with fried apple slices. Apple turnovers (using bought puff pastry) and ice cream.

weevils that hazelnut chestnut thing sounds amazing... I am going to have to try to find an online version.

All these desserts sound ace and most quite sophisticated.

Mine tend to be stodgy things like apple tarts/tarte tatin with massive dollops of clotted cream.

Twinkleinmyeye · 18/05/2012 20:50

"Naughty choc thing" has got to be Jamie's Mega Chocolate Fudge cake. It can be found here.

A.Ma.Zing. :)

PrematurelyAirconditioned · 18/05/2012 20:55

Nigel Slater's white chocolate & cardamom mousse with very dark chocolate sauce is good, easy and sophisticated.
Or if it's cold and you want to pig out, Delia's chocolate bread and butter pudding is good.
