Eggs passed the float test but are they ok?

Hi I have some eggs which say bb date 28/9 but they all sank when I did the float test ( if they float in water they are no good). Will they be ok if I hard boil them to make a batch off egg mayonnaise? I hate throwing things away...

God yes, I've used eggs nearly a month over and survived to tell the tale! IMO you can tell if an egg is off as soon as you crack it (stinks). I hate waste too!

If an egg is off you will smell it, you really really will.

They will be absolutely fine, especially as you are going to hardboil them.

Thought so! Def hard boil as imam pregnant so wouldn't risk a runny yolk unless really fresh, but they look fine to me and I will make sure we use the egg mayo quick for sardines tomorrow. Thanks ladies.

If the egg has salmonella then freshness is irrelevant.

If the egg has a red lion mark then it comes from a vaccinated chicken so it doesn't have salmonella.
