Cooking chicken question...

CoffeeMum · 30/09/2011 16:13

Am I okay to cook a curry with fresh chicken for the children at 5pm, leave it on the hob, and heat it through again for the grown ups at 7.30pm-8pm?

Thanks in advance Smile

Yes. Why would it not be?

Fine, What time do you want me round? Grin

Yum. It'll be even better when you reheat it.

I think leaving raw chicken hanging around would be a prob . Cooked should be fine.

Basically, if you cook it properly first time, then let it cool, as long as its properly heated through til its piping hot the second time it will kill any bugs that have had time to accumulate. On a cooler day I would probably be ok leaving it covered overnight and thoroughly reheating it the next day.

Thanks all - i'm never very confident with the whole food hygiene rules thing - i was 99% sure it was okay, but thought i'd better check as i don't want to poison my guests! Wink
