Quick and easy starter

In desperate need for some ideas for a simple starter for a steak main course...any ideas? Am not the best cook

melon and parma ham?

Pate mushrooms:
One largish portobello mushroom each
Pop under the grill until it starts to soften
Add a dollop of your favourite pate & spread over the mushroom.
Add a small blob of garlic butter & a pinch of mixed herbs.
Pop back under the grill for 5-10 minutes. Serve with a little bistro salad type thing.

Ready made puff pastry - cut into circles with large cookie cutter.
Fry sliced onions with a sprinkling of sugar and chili powder until caramalised.
Put onions on puff pastry and crumble some goat cheese onto them.
Bake in the oven according to pastry pack's instructions.
